SIMPLE IN TODAY'S WORLD

In today's world "simple" is a difficult concept for many to grasp. Everything we use each day seems to be constantly evolving into a more complex system. The world seems to demand that we keep up with the growing number of complexities, complications, and nuances of everyday life.

The new smartphone, the computer, emails. All these things were designed to make our lives simpler, easier. And, yet, this is not the case. Too often these tools end up end up complicating life further.
So, it turns out that simple is in short supply everywhere you go today. Unwittingly we allow our lives to become overly complicated. What we want is for things to be simple, open, and freeing. These moments have become rare and fleeting. But, it is in these moments that we begin to see and understand our true selves, awaken our passions, and figure out what is truly important in life.

Wouldn't it be great simpler if we could turn our attention back to focusing on the small pleasures of everyday life. Wouldn't it be better to live a focused, purposeful life, instead of being distracted in million different ways. Wouldn't it be nice to focus on the few important things that mattered instead of trying to impossibly spread our attention over those million things! When one is forced to divide their attention in that way, it is very easy to end up feeling empty and devoid of purpose. And, therefore, we continue to live our directionless, unfocused lives because it is what we are used to.

And, let me let you in on a little secret:  This status quo is killing passion, purpose, and drive in many.

So, we have to find a way to break out of the well-worn habits and loops that led to complicated living. We have to be able to chart a better course, a simpler course. Part of that means embracing what is simple in our lives. It could also mean learning to be thankful or grateful for the good parts that already exist, or it could mean cutting out the parts of our lives that add no purpose or value to our life goals.

By embracing the idea of simplicity we can begin to find elegant solutions to even the most complex problems each day. Simplicity in and of itself is not a panacea of all of life's problems, but it is a helpful train of thought that can lead to better solutions.
